Here at Performance Unlimited, we would like to take this moment to say Happy Thanksgiving.

2024 has not been the easiest year so far and, this late in the year, it can only get so much better. But there is still reason for us to be thankful. It’s good to have some gratitude, even when things are tough.

Inflation has been troublesome, the job market could be better, and there are wars. But we still have cause to give thanks.

Most of us have friends and family to share our lives with. We have homes and, hopefully, those homes are warm and there’s food in the refrigerator. 

One day each year is set aside for us to give thanks. And that day is this week – Thursday, Nov. 28.

This is a day to gather with friends and family, enjoy a meal, probably a turkey dinner, and share each other’s company. If we can avoid politics, we can probably have a pleasant time. 

We can bask in the light of the warm feelings we have for those we love and cherish. We might even enjoy watching some football together.

The first Thanksgiving is said to have occurred in 1621 when the Pilgrims and the Indians in Plymouth met and shared the food they had grown and hunted. That was a time when gratitude was more keenly felt. It was a difficult time.

The Pilgrims had arrived in the New World in 1620. There were 120 passengers on two ships. Two of them died during the Atlantic voyage but one child was born during the trip.

Most of the passengers, however, were sick. And, within several months, by March of 1621, only 47 of the Pilgrims had survived.

Think about that handful of people giving thanks after burying 73 of their friends and family. They still had a difficult time ahead of them. But they had hope. And they were grateful for what they had – rich soil and plentiful game. 

Today, as we consider that which we are grateful for, here at Performance Unlimited, we’re grateful for our friends and family, too. We’re also grateful for the customers who allow us to service and repair their automobiles. 

Our hope is that we will all have a better year in 2025. And, with that sentiment, we offer you all a hearty Happy Thanksgiving and our best wishes.
