Performance Unlimited, a leading auto repair/maintenance shop in McHenry County since 1982, is
offering to pick up and drop off customers’ cars, trucks and SUVs for whatever service or maintenance is required.

“We realize that, with the coronavirus, a lot of drivers are concerned about taking their vehicle in to the shop while, at the same time, trying to maintain safe ‘social distancing,’” said Denny Norton, the
owner/operator of the company. “For those people, we will pick up their vehicle, bring it to the shop,
perform whatever service or maintenance is required, and return the vehicle to their home.”

Norton said that, while in contact with the vehicle, employees will wear nitrile gloves and, when the car, truck or SUV is returned, the employee will use sanitary wipes on all contact surfaces. The pick-up/drop-off service is available no matter how big or small the project. In other words, if someone simply wants an oil change, or if the vehicle is making a sound they want checked out, a Performance Unlimited employee will come and pick-up the vehicle and bring it to the shop.

When the work is done, they’ll bring the vehicle back and wipe down the vehicle with sanitized wipes. To make matters even easier for customers, Norton said that all invoicing and payments can be done electronically.

Auto repair shop commits to helping in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic

Norton indicated his determination to do his part in the fight against COVID-19. This includes helping to reduce unnecessary social interactions that could spread the disease. But Norton also has his eye on the future.

“We’re going to beat this thing. It’s only a matter of time,” he said. “And when we do, when it’s time to get back to business, we’re going to want the economy to bounce back, too. We need to help businesses survive the crisis so that people have jobs to go back to.”

Norton agrees that he’s also speaking of Performance Unlimited in this regard.

“I’ve spent 20 years assembling a staff of auto repair technicians the customers and I can trust. Today, I have the best team of technicians I’ve ever had. I really want to keep them.”

With Governor JB Pritzker’s ‘Shelter-In-Place’ order that is in its second full day, Norton said people
aren’t sure if they can bring their cars, trucks, or SUVs in for repairs. Having the vehicles picked up, and then dropped off after the auto repairs or maintenance are completed, absolves vehicle owners of the need to worry about how they’ll get the vehicle in to the shop.

“In a way, this may be an opportunity for some people to have repairs done while they’re stuck at home sheltering anyway,” said Norton.
