Each year, the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce hosts its Annual Dinner Dance. The theme this year, on Saturday, Jan. 24, was “Chicago, All That Jazz.”  The event was a celebration of dining, dancing and live music. However, it was also an opportunity to celebrate some of the 2014 contributors in the Chamber.

One such contributor was Denny Norton of Ringwood based Performance Unlimited. Norton was awarded as the “Board Member of the Year.” He served as the 2nd Vice Chairman and is a former president of the Chamber affiliated MC3 business networking group. He continues as a member of the group.
The award reads, “This award symbolizes a Board member that has gone above and beyond and has been an inspiration to others on the Board.”

Anyone who knows Norton realizes that is an apt description of how he approaches his membership in the chamber, as well as a demonstration of the passion and commitment he brings to his business. As a Chamber member, Norton attended numerous mixers, ribbon cuttings and other Chamber events. With MC3, he served on the Bags Tournament Committee for Fiesta Days, was instrumental in the MC3 BBQ Bingo Mixer and was among the driving forces for Shop With A Cop that raised more than $12,000 for disadvantaged children in the McHenry County area.

Performance Unlimited is a premier auto repair shop in the county. They have the latest automotive equipment and up-to-date qualified auto repair technicians. They’ve kept their clients’ cars reliably on the road for more than 30 years.

Membership in the Chamber tends to sort out serious businesses from the fly-by-night variety. It also has a way of filtering out less reputable businesses. A business with a negative reputation usually won’t last long in the Chamber. Someone from such a business stands no chance of earning awards, such as Board Member of the Year.

In other words, while the award recognizes Norton’s commitment to the Chamber community, it also verifies a widely recognized reputable approach that he brings to the way he does business at Performance Unlimited. The Chamber doesn’t mind shining the spotlight on Norton. In fact, the Chamber realizes that association reflects well on all involved.
